[ICOM] 756PRO - let some smoke out

Hi Don,
Kelly just sent me a photo. The burnt area on the CTRL board looks very much
like Q25 (the RX mute switch) and its surrounding circuitry.
The RX antenna jack (RX-ANT) is connected to the RF board. There is a fuse
bulb in series with the RX-ANT line, which blows if excess RF power is
applied to RX-ANT.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

I think it's more likely R58 (2P-50-W1L301) that has melted, it's some kind
of protective device. A friend has a similar issue with his PRO -
R156 is burnt. Hasn't done more than a visual inspection yet. All in the
same area and fed from the RF-RX jack. Maybe got RF back into the RX
antenna jack??
