[ICOM] Ct-17 clones... comment

I am using one with a Pro 3 and SteppIR as I type this. It is powered by the
same power supply that powered the CT-17 works just great. Don't expect
these devices to power the rig and SteppIR without added power as the normal
USB voltage is 5 volts and not enough juice to run both. 73 OZ

FWIW...I tried one of the lower-cost replacements that self-powers
from the COM port. I was using it to control a Pro3 and a SteppIR
controller (which is in principle a fairly benign high-impedance
"listen-only" port).

The replacement device died within a short time after
installation...the serial line stuck at about -9 V and dragged down
the Pro and the SteppIR. Fortunately neither the Pro3 nor the SteppIR
controler was damaged. I tried replacing it with another, and the same
thing happened.

A CT-17 was installed and has not failed.
