Kenwood and Icom entired into agreement last year to colaborate on several projects. Oversees sources indicate the new TMW706 D-Star transceiver from Kenwood is actually a repackage Icom ID-800 with a few minor changes also. Kenwood and Icom have also recently introduced another as yet unnamed digital audio protocol in their commercial LMR lines and Icom is already offering commercial radios using this new protocol.
