On the IC-2410's "stock" hand-mic, there is a clamping diode across the microphone element. Removing the diode is the simple way to increase audio from the mic - replacing it with a 9.1v zener is the "proper" way of doing it (I removed the one in my 2410 mic).

Subject: [ICOM] ICOM IC-2410H Dual Band with a HM14 Mic
Having a problem with a ICOM IC-2410H Dual Band with a HM14 Mic.
Repeater listeners are commenting that the audio seems soft/low with this
combination.
Does someone have knowledge of the circuit inside the radio that can raise
the audio level?
