[ICOM] IC-271H blown finals

I have a Icom IC-271H that is in need of finals (2SC2694) and the driver 
(sc1013). I would like to know if anyone has experienced self oscillation
with the rig that would have taken them out or anything that may have caused 
the finals to fail???
Is there anyone that has any hints before I install the new ones and 
potentially let the smoke out of them as well?
Matched pairs of 2sc2694's are expensive.
