OOPS????
I got 20-049.....Does anyone know if it will work?
It is for programming scanners, and is RS232 to 1/8" mini
I figure for a buck eighty nine, I would make use of my old laptop...or a
USB to RS232 for the new laptop.
But if it won't work...I'll bring it back toward the real deal USB job.
Thanks anyone!!
...Dave

Subject: [ICOM] Radio Shack USB - CIV control adapter

I caught wind of this Radio Shack cable/adapter (maybe here) quite some time
ago and finally decided I had to give it a try.
It is intended as a PC interface for several of their scanners.

It's a very nice package - the SMD circuit board has LEDs indicating TX and
Rec (of the serial data). The board is housed in a transparent case.
The package comes with an adapter which must be used with ICOMs.

Installation was a snap - I plugged the USB connector into a USB port. The
"Found New Hardware" installation prompt opened. I told it not to look for
a driver 'cause I had it..... so forth.

I looked at the device manager and saw that the driver had installed the
adapter as COM4.

I control my rigs (746pro and 706mk2g) with DxLab and I also use Ham Radio
Deluxe. I set the software to look for the radio on COM4 and set DTR and RTS
off and all works as expected.

Here are the details:
Radio Shack
Full-Speed USB Scanner Programming Cable
20-047
I paid $29.99
