[ICOM] Computer Control

Hi List:
         There has been some discussion of the Radio Shack 20-289 pc/radio interface on closeout.  Not to sound like I am unfamiliar with Ham Radio Deluxe but I was under the impression that it would be difficult and costly to install computer control on my 275H, 475H and the 751A that I use.  Can someone clarify what exactly the 20-289 accomplishes and what Icom parts would be required in conjunction with the 20-289 interface to establish computer control?  I am really unclear how to accomplish computer control on these older rigs.
