[ICOM] re: dead IC7800b

My friend's 7800 died also, same symptoms. The power supply died. It had failed to turn on a few times in the past, then finally, one day it no longer turned on at all. Don't quote me on this, but rumor has it that Icom had an issue with the first generation power supply in the 7800s, and as part of the upgrade when 7800s came in for the roofing filter mod, the power supply was sometimes changed also.

His was done under warranty.  I would think that with a little pressure, they might make good on it even if it is only a few months out of warranty. Talk to your dealer also, they can put pressure on Icom to make good on it if you are a valued customer.
