Pete,
Could be 2 things right off the bat to check..
1st is the power supply and to test that you will have to take off
the top cover.
******************************************************************************************
STOP! Make sure the rig is unplugged from AC mains before doing anything!
******************************************************************************************
Inside the left hand side is where the power supply lives.
You will see a connector with gray wires and one other color, sorry
forget what color.
2 wires each of those 2 colors only.
Disconnect that one from the power supply. Plug AC power cord back in
and see if it turns on.
If it does..bad news the finals are most likely blown/shorted and
won't let the PS come up.
If the radio does not turn on most likely the power supply is dead..
Seen both in 7800 repairs..
