Hi Dick,
Before you buy anything, check Rob Sherwood's website
(http://www.sherweng.com/table.html) and note that the FIFTH BEST
receiver he has EVER tested is that of an IC-765 to which Scott Malcolm
has given all proper upgrades, exactly aligned it, and then set the IF
gain for best possible noise floor. And that's WITHOUT InRad roofing
filter! The next best Icom Rob has ever tested (and he's tested just
about all) is the 7800 without 3khz roofing filter! The Pros, etc. are
way down the line.

For the $900 or so a really good late 765 will cost you, plus less than
$300 for everything Scott does (and he's VERY good and VERY reliable,
and will explain everything to you on phone or by email if you wish),
you will have a radio that on receive is very close to the 7800 WITH
3khz roofing filter. I know; I happen to own Rob's Malcolmized 765 (my
third), and it sits next to a perfect 7800 with 3khz roofer.

Call or email Rob and Scott.

GL, es vy 73 as always.
