[ICOM] Backup ICOM Radio

Dick,
My rigs are the IC-756PROIII, two IC-746PRO and an IC-7000. If you are
accustomed to a 756PROIII, then the IC-746PRO is a easy transition as a
backup. Even the IC-7000 is a close cousin if you need a mobile/portable
rig that is small.

You're thinking is similar to my recent thoughts.

Subject: [ICOM] Backup ICOM Radio

I am looking for an ICOM HF transceiver as a base station backup for my
IC-756 Pro III.

I would like to stay under $1500. My first thought was a new IC-746 Pro,
but then I started thinking about all of the used 761, 781, 775 radios out
there (which I know absolutely nothing about).

So I guess my questions boils down to this: what is the best (in terms of
performance and reliability) ICOM HF transceiver I can buy, new or use, for
$1500 or less?

All suggestions and discussion appreciated.
