Scratching the memory:
Check the diodes in the tuner control module, or maybe even just replace
them.
If that does not cure the tuner check the variable capacitor drive motors.
I had two 775's that the bobbins that secure the armateur to the drive shaft
in the motors had broken. Repaired them with epoxy cement and they work
fine now.
