I use the 1.9 kHz SSB and 350 Hz CW filters
in my IC-706 Mk II. That's a good choice, also.
I have added the UT-106 DSP board, as well.

There is an option for two filters for the IC-703.
See www.w4rt.com for info. The mod is a new
board that installs in the space for the one large
filter that CAN be fitted with 2.5 kHz SSB and/or
250 Hz Collins mechanical filters. I have not gone
this route as my use of my 703 is very limited and
does not, at this time, justify the expenditure.

Gary, et al;

One minor correction. The 706G has two,
not one, optional filter slots. I use one mobile
with the 1.9 kHz narrow SSB and 250 Hz
narrow CW and am very happy with it.

The IC-718, and perhaps IC-703, use the larger
filters and have a single slot - a serious limitation,
in my view.
