[ICOM] IC-765 Question

I want to thank everyone who responded to my recent
inquiry about hooking up an external power supply to
my 765.  That went very well and the rig appears to
have a little more output than it did with the
internal supply.

However, now I have a new question.  While operating
at full output on 75 meter SSB last night, the final
section started giving off a "hot component" smell. 
It never smoked, and the rig appeared to still be
operating normally.  Has anyone ever experienced this?
 I never noticed this before hooking up the external
supply.

working.
