Hi,
Linux based older Linksys WRT54G(S) with 3rd party firmware, such as  
dd-wrt is worth
considering. Rock solid router. Version 2 to 4 are the ones. 5, 6 are 
Vxwork based and have
lesser memory. I'd try shielding the case.
