[ICOM] RF Quiet Router

Hmmmm.... I use a LinkSys WRT-55AG. It has a 4-port router, a 2.4 GHz
wireless, and a 5.0 GHz wireless. I keep the 2.4 restricted to the top
channel so it doesn't cause any problem with my 2.4 satellite downlink. I
have a 2.4/5.0 card in the laptop and keep it restricted to 5.0. I do not
see any noise at all from 0 to 1.5 GHz, (which is the limit of my HP
spectrum Analyzer) anywhere along the system.
BTW - all the other computers in the house are CAT-5 hard-cable connected to
the router, only one laptop on the wireless. The WAN port is of course
connecter to the cable modem.
I assume you are certain it is the router and not a cable radiating, or
maybe the power cord, something you can shield or ferrite-bead to death?
Perhaps you can return it, and have a short discussion with the store
manager. Try this one and that one with your dual-band HT and see if one or
the other is better.
One note. The D-Link DI-604 looks like a good deal $$$-wise. I had one.
It lasted a while, then fried itself. I should have replaced it with
Link-Sys. I wanted to. But when I got to the store, the D-Link DI-604 was
on sale at like 75% off. I already had the documents, the firmware
upgrades, it was really PLUG-AND-PLAY. So I did it. 6 months later it
fried too. I guess you really DO get what you pay for.
OH - Link-Sys is Cisco Systems. It doesn't get much better than that.
Good luck with it. Lemme know what you find.
