Hi, Dave.
Your biggest problem will probably be determining
which components are which from the block and
schematic diagrams.
If the cans are "full of wax" use your wife's hair
dryer to soften the wax prior to attempting to
adjust them. The IF stage should not need any
adjustment.
Back in 1972, I had the crystal controlled IC-20
and IC-21 rigs for 2m. I built a GLB synthesizer
that would cover 140-149.995 MHz. I retuned
both radios to be able to cover entire 144-148
band plus a bit below to be able to cover Air
Force M.A.R.S. frequencies. I got about 3 Watts
at 143.950 and still had about 7 or 8 Watts out
in the majority of the 2m ham band if I remember
correctly.
I still have a 215 I bought new at Dayton back
in 1974 or 1975.
YRMV.

Mac.....I do have the owner's manual. It has a simplified theory of op, and
a block diagram and schematic. I suppose I could just tune the RF stage on
xmit, and go through the IF stages on receive...but when alignment
instructions exist, I like to follow them. I suppose I'll check the receive
with a generator, and the xmit on a wattmeter to see just how off it is from
145 to 146 range. Might not be worth it, especially if those little xfmr
cans are full of wax!
...Dave
