FWIW Dept.: My experience is no. I've also found my 706Mk2G 
comparatively uncomfortable to listen to, and have sort of worked both 
sides. I installed a narrow filter for selectivity for CW, and a wide 
filter for ease of listening for SSB. Neither filter made signals 
(either CW or SSB) any easier to listen to on the 706. I've got a 703 
that has a much, much better receiver on all accounts than my 706, 
filters or not.
