Subject: [ICOM] UHF Power Module Repaired...Thanks!

Hi,
A couple of weeks ago I posted to the list requesting a used SC-1054
or M57788 UHF power amplifier module. The symptom was very low output
in Tx power from the radio.
A couple of kind folks responded, suggesting I pry the cover off the
one I have and look for broken traces on the substrate. I figured I
had nothing to loose and only ~$80.00 to save, so I did.
Upon removing the lid of the module, I found that three of the five
leads which provide connections to the module from the rest of the
radio were pulled away from their solder pads. Using a sharp razor
blade to cut away the sealant goop around the solder pads, and a
large tip soldering iron, I was able to re-solder the leads to the
pads on the substrate. The radio now makes the 30 watts it is
supposed to. Thank you for the constructive advice!

Thanks,
