Once the radio has been modified to transmit "out of band" the
major concern could be the shape of the band filters in the PA
stage.  If the power output of the radio drops off when using a
frequency on the edge of a band filter it's telling you that the
filter could be damaged due to internal losses in the filter.
Not to mention what could happen to the other effected
components.   This subject has been mulled over before on
here.
