Ken,
Your suggestion has merits but this is not the case.
My 706MKIIG is driven to full output by the TNC.
However the 756 does only about 5 Watts out with the
same set up. Bear in mind that there is full output
using the mic connector. Something is wrong with the
ACC set up.
