My ICOM IC-820H is the only one I know of with a GREEN display. The way is
came about is because I was too cheap to pay the high price for GENUINE ICOM
lamps. I bought the cheaper Radio shack lamps to keep it lit. But they are
cheaper for a reason! They blow. Actually, they suck, which is why they
blow. Well - you get the idea!

So I got on the E-place and bought 60 white LEDs for about $15. I started
with the 820. Now every time a radio (or whatever) loses a lamp quits, that
radio gets converted to LEDs.

The "WHITE" LEDs really have a pale blue tint to them. This pale blue -
when mixed with the yellow display - makes the display look GREEN.

Perhaps this is how it came to be. Were I you, I would drop the seller an
E-mail and ask how his got that way.

Hmmmm - I shudda put an LED in the IC-551D while it was on the bench.
Oh-well... It will blow the lamp sometime in the future. I got time!

NOTE: I <VERY CAREFULLY> take a grinder to the LED and grind it smaller.
In stock form, the light is too sharply focused. At least grind the rounded
tip flat.

Well - 0430, time to hit the road. Got to keep making that electricity.
