[ICOM] digital interface

Have picked up a icom 746PRO.....rest of the gear is glow in the 
dark....... would like to try digital modes with the pro. Wondering 
what is ...or seems to be...... one of the better interfaces on the 
market. I seem to keep seeing post after post regarding so many 
problems with the interfaces. Would like to get set up ,without 
reinventing the wheel . Just need info regarding the 746 pro. Also any 
software package .. use a pc with windows xp.
