I have noticed that the fan on my new acquired (love this rig) Icom 756PRO
seems to only run during transmit. This means that if the rig is sitting in
receive only mode for awhile, it gets pretty hot. Is there a mod to make the
fan run continuously, even during receive? Or does the radio have a thermal
switch that will turn the fan on during receive if it reaches a certain
temperature?

I bought my PRO new in Tokyo, the year they were announced. As I have told
John, it takes NO back-seat to any other 6 Meter radio I have ever had, or now
own (and that quite a few).
I did NOT like the temperature of my radio (or my 706G) do I added a small
muffin fan to the pack of the pro.
It is completely inaudible in operation and even if the radio is on ALL day,
it is still 'cool' to the touch. I'm sure Icon's Engineers did due diligence
when they did the thermal aspects of these radios, BUT having spent several
years doing failure analysis for IBM, I KNOW heat ain't gonna make anything
live longer!

Details upon request off the reflector....
