The PCR1000 is *not* a Software Defined Radio.  It is typical  
receiver, minus front panel controls, which is controlled by commands  
over a standard serial port.

I find my PCR1000 a convenient scanner (albeit with very slow scan  
rate) on VHF and UHF.  It is an adequate shortwave receiver, but its  
front end suffers in the presence of strong signals.
