I use an IC-706MKIIG in my car, but the IC-7000 has one
great advantage, all other features excluded. It has a video
output that can be hooked to a TV in the US, but I don't know
if it supports PAL or SECAM or other systems in other countries.
I can hang the 7000 fronts peice and a 5 inch TV (no antenna
connected) where I can see it, and I can read the whole screen
while I safely drive the car. I don't know if this violates the "NO
TV" rule in many states, but GPS's appear to be OK. That, plus
the mic controls, makes it easier for us old guys to do ham radio
in the car. The 706 performs well enough for a mobile rig. I said
"well enough" and "mobile". The 7000 is more of a house radio,
like my ProII is.
