It is just me but I do not like to buy an item ... Radio or a car when they first come out because I want the problems to be worked out first. It is too bad about some of the Icom 7000's. I remember stories of new cars when I live in Michigan... <WA8TER> Some friends of mine bought a new GM car right before the strike and they found coke bottles inside the door. That same year I waited till the GM guys were back to work making cars after the strike and bought a 1978 Chevy Impala. No problems ever and drove it way over 100,000 miles.

I had the same feeling about purchasing a 8030 module for my KX1 but succomed to the desire and ordered one the other day! I know the guys at Elecraft have a good record!!

Hopefully not. Paying near-new prices on a new model can be risky, since none of the manufacturers will AFAIK honor the warranty if you aren't the original purchaser. If you think about some of the issues with the 746Pro, the warranty could be worth quite a lot.
