Hi Leanne,
The convention regarding contesting and nets on 17m and 12m still holds.
Never heard of any transmitter power restriction on those bands, although
there is a 200W PEP output limit on 30m in the US.

How does this compare to the swr of the other bands without tuning? I think
that Icom tuners will not tune if the swr is low. Not knowing anything of
the PW1, I would think that would hold true here. I would go to the book and
read over the section on tuning. The other thing that I was thinking is that
when we were first allowed on 17 and 12 meters that there was a gentleman's
agreement that there would be no amplifiers of contesting on those bands. I
guess that is all gone by the wayside now.
