[ICOM] IC 706 Installation in a 2006 Toyota Tacoma Access cab ?

One of the issues with the 706 is that panel behind the control unit does
get
warm / hot.
My radio is in the trunk of a Honda Accord and it does get pretty hot. The
auxiliary output connector on the back of the radio has +12 when the radio
is ON. The 12V can deliver adequate current for a small 12 fan. However,
I used the 12 volt to drive the gate of a FET which in turn controls the fan
which is connected directly to the 12 V DC raw source next to the radio.
Having the fan blow air on the panel and the entire radio reduced the heat
substantially.
Sorry, I did not keep my test result and the exact temperature measurements.
I strongly recommend cooling the unit with an external fan.
Keep in mind that the radio may be in a location with little free air
circulation.

Good luck.
