Hi John's,
I have the IC-736 from 1997 and use it constant in contests and it works
very well. In a time use it with the DSP MFJ-784B and with this help nothing
has that to envy to rig of $3000 or more.
I compare it with my IC-775DSP and I can say that in normal conditions or DX
there is no great difference, the 775 has a reception litlle serene only. In
contest with the filter possibility the 775 overcome his minor brother.
A friend (LU5DX) achieve two world records with my IC-736 in the CQWW CW
from my station, speaks it about his kindness. He says that it is the best
rig that him use in CW!!!
The IC-736 it is a very good receiver for contests.
