Hi Bob,
This link will explain how Dual Watch works:
http://www.ab4oj.com/icom/dw.html
Whilst addressing the IC-756Pro2, the article is applicable to all Icom
radios embodying the Dual Watch facility. PIN-diode attenuators at the A and
B 1st-mixer outputs allow adjustment of the relative A and B signal levels
via the BAL control.
If the BAL control is intermittent, it may not bias on the B attenuator as
the A attenuator is biased off, or vice versa. This will account for the
intermittent "deafness". Troubleshooting will not generally be difficult,
but the seller should ensure that the radio is in 100% working condition.
These radios do not have main and sub receivers as such. Only the A and B
1st mixers and local oscillators (synthesisers) are separate.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Yes he turned it all the way to the right and the audio was low on the
subreceiver. He expected to hear the subreceiver as loudly as he did when
the pot was turned to the left and was listening to the main receiver.
