[ICOM] Icom 706 on HF

After a recent rig failure I have acquired an Icom 706 as my HF/6 rig for awhile until funds get better.  What is the 706 original like as an HF performer?  I will be using it mainly in the house with a decent high bands antenna, and a G5RV type antenna for the low bands.  Have a CW filter ordered already for it.  I will be using it mainly for DXing with some light contesting, and rag chewing.
