"Can't be repaired economically" doesn't mean it can't be repaired.

It reminds me of when I was in the radio business and I encountered a
similar situation with a radio that had been damaged by lightening I
believe... It's been a while...

When asked to do an estimate we told the fellow it was basically a write-off
as it would cost too much to repair.

The chap came back a week later, angry, and told me I was wrong... He had
fixed it himself for about $50. I then asked him how many hours he had
spent! QED

Just a reminder there are many hams with more time than money... Who would
be interested I  repairing it. It seems a shame to scrap it! Pull the
options and sell the radio complete unless you are trying to squeeze the
last dollar out of it.
