Been there, done all of that. As I mentioned I replaced all components in 
the USB LSB section and added the temperature compensated oscillator.
I do have the service manual.
Over the past 7 years I'll bet I've spent 80 hours trying to figure this 
thing out. It doesn't want to hold the frequency that was set using the 
procedure on page 47 of the operating manual. It's not the battery backup 
either.
