Breathe easy, Paul. It isn't your problem, really. Canada's
taxation on imported items is ludicrous, at best, and absolutely
ridiculous, at worst. The government tries to collect tax on
something it had absolutely nothing to do with and provided no
services for. If it is going to be a problem, it will be for the
recipient. Keep doing what you're doing -- it makes it easier all
the way around.
