I'm presently using the 706MKIIG as a base unit. The radio is OK but the RX could be better. I have had the 751A and miss that great RX sound plus the notch filter. [the 706 doesn't have either of this ]. However I sold the radio because it needed a lot of work done to it.
Now I'm looking to buy an other radio with better RX and better audio. I have considered looking into the IC-7000, but have not really heard anything good or bad. I guess this is in part due to the radio being still new to the market.
Because of my $$$ constraints I'm either left with using the 706 or buying an older rig.
So with that said and done. The question I'm asking everyone on this reflector is; What older Icom base rig would you recommend that gets great audio output as well as great RX input [notch filters etc]? The radio will be used as a SSB rag chewer, and sometimes running a net.
Thanks Hart
