[ICOM] 756 Pro III Problem

Hi Bob,

The fact that your IC-756Pro3 takes 10 sec. to reinitialise after the glitch
is a clue. It suggests a primary power drop-out. Did the start-up screen
appear on the display?

It sounds as if there is a sudden drop in DC supply voltage. This could be
due to loose or improperly seated pins in the Molex DC power connector, a
fault in your PSU or RF getting into the PSU. Have you checked the Molex
pins for proper seating and tightness? You may also wish to power the radio
from another power source, and transmit into a dummy load.

We had almost exactly the same problem with an IC-706MkIIG at our club's FD
site, and corrected it by squeezing the female pins in the plug on the DC
power cord with needle-nose pliers.

When the reflectometer in the PA output signal path detects high reflected
power, it will pull down the ALC line to reduce drive. It will not cause the
radio to power down.

The radio should deliver 100W CW into a 50-ohm resistive load on all bands.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ
