[ICOM] Icom Steps Up - PW1 Repair

A month or so ago I wrote of the failure I experienced in my 7 month old
Icom PW-1 amplifier.
Its just important, perhaps more so, to report on happy endings as it is to
express concern.
 
Icom stepped up to the plate, warranted the amp - was a defective PA module
and some resistors - and sent it back to me within two weeks.
I called Icom Service for explanation of what happened and found Chris to be
quite helpful, reminds me why I always buy Icom for my solid-state gear.
Great service, good explanation of the failure and a solid assurance if the
problem does occur again, in or out of warranty they would stand behind the
unit.
His explanation of that the PA module failed of its own accord and took out
some of the resistors on the PA section.
He mentioned that this was not overly common, but it does happen, they -
Icom Service - would assist if this were to occur again.
 
I must say that I feel much better about my PW-1 and plan to exercise it on
the bands in the upcoming weeks.
Icom Service is still number 1 in my book.
