Hi Bob,
Yes you have to remove the whole cover. Too bad they don't have the little
trap door in the bottom like Kenwood does. You don't actually have to
remove the top cover to get the bottom one off. Just take the screws on the
sides of the radio off, and it will allow you to get the bottom cover off
then.
