Many years ago, R. L. Drake receivers and transceivers
use a small lamp wired in series between the coax input
or T/R relay and the input circuitry as a hedge against
destructive overload.

I blew the bulb in my 756Pro with a receiving wire antenna about 5mtr (15ft)
in parallel to the loop I used. That was pretty stupid from me. Later, after
repair the rx antenna was farther away, abt 10mtr and not in parallel to any
wire of the loop. That worked fine. Power was 100W.
