[ICOM] Rack Mount

Bob;
The way I approach the "problem", all Icoms can be rack mounted. I
measure the unit, transfer the measurement to a blank rack panel which
is clamped to the bed of my "drill - mill" with a 1/2" wood backing (to
relieve the bit from hitting the bed) and then cut the panel. This
enables me to, in the case of smaller units such as the 2710H and IC38
to share the same panel including 4" speakers.
I have not posted dimensions because the needs vary and the dimensions
of each radio model will more or less vary. The dimensions are available
from the sales literature. Mo' better - measure the unit itself as there
are minor molding variations within production runs.
The smaller units can be mounted directly to a rack panel by using 1/2"
X 1/2" aluminum angle. The angle is drilled to match the screw holes
that hold the cover to the radio and, of course, holes of convenience in
the rack panel.
In the case of larger units, such as the 910H and the 756 ProII, I used
a support shelf.
I cannot use the rack mounts offered on the web for the Icom 756 series
radios as the space allocated for them in the 3 bay slope front
surplus console that houses all the gear is less than the 7" required.
Other than that, their product line looks good.
Hope this helps.
