[ICOM] Smoked PROII

Do not know if this is the problem, but a very strong nearby signal can and
has been known to burn out the front end of the 756ProII, and I know this to
be true on a first hand basis. Burghardt Amateur Center does a modification
that prevents this from occuring though I am sure it is rare. It is called
the BEV 756 mod and costs about $175 Approx. Had it installed on my new Pro
III and my freind who had his Pro II to them for repair of the burned out
front end had it installed on his Pro II.

Subject: [ICOM] Smoked PROII

A good friend of mine used a fullsized 160 rcv loop at 12 feet attached
to the Receive antenna port during the 160 Contest recently. 100w
output, heard a pop, and smells "burnt something". He's traveling for
work, and is trying to get ideas of what/where to look when he gets home
to get the rig repaired for the next 160 contest. (he has since ordered
a relay to cut out the antenna ahead of the Pro II. Any help
appreciated, and if wanted, can reply to me off list.

Thanks and 73,
Zig - KM9M
