[ICOM] 746 question

i just put in a 500hz fl-100 in my newly purchased 746. there  are 3 diff. 
sections about using the filter. i just don't get how i tell the  radio i put 
the filter in and how  to select it. maybe i'm dumb, but i  can't get it. i keep 
bouncing around the op. manual. anyone out there who can  help?  
i saw  on EBAY someone selling guides to Yaesu and  Kenwoods. Guess their 
manuals need a common sense quick guide. i think i need on  for this 746.
