You read my mind!
I recently bought a Pro3 with the intent to compare it with my trusty 781,
which I've had since they first came out in the early 90's, and keep
whichever one I found to be best.
Although I have had the new radio a few months, I haven't been able to do
lots of a-b switching but sufficient to get used to the Pro3 and make some
general impressions.
Essentially, I find nothing the Pro3 can do that the 781 can't do better. I
have replaced some of the 781 filters and I'm not fond of SSB so my
impressions may be biased given the mods and mode of op I prefer.
Filter-wise and dynamics considered, I'll be selling the PRO3 shortly unless
someone here can convince me otherwise.

Subject: [ICOM] Icom 781 vs. 756 Pro 3
Hello Icom users:
Comparing an Icom 781 to a 756 Pro 3 seems lopsided in
favor of the 756 Pro 3, which has the better receiver? Can a 781 still be
repaired or are parts/service getting hard to find?
