[ICOM] IC-746 Problems

Hi,

I am a new owner of a used Icom IC-746 (non pro) It was purchased new by 
it's previous owner in 2001. I am a two way radio tech by trade and am going 
to fix this rig myself (when I find some free time). It has two minor 
problems..... (1) When you turn off the radio it loses all its setting and 
memories.... (2) When you press the 24  key on the keypad the radio is 
supposed to go to 12m (24mhz) ham band. In fact the display will show it to 
be there, however, it is not, it thinks it is on 440 ham band. If you press 
the duplex button, the tx freq. at the bottom shows 424.95000

while the main display shows 24.95000. If I turn the vfo knob clockwise, the 
display jumps to 0.030.00. If I turn the vfo If I turn the vfo knob 
counter-clockwise the display jumps to 174.000.00. I suspect that this

problem is cause by an out of band tx/rx mod that was not done exactly 
right. Has anyone else seen this problem? I can live with it, but I would 
really like to get the memory issue solved.....
