Hi Gary,

Never having owned an IC-746Pro, I cannot really comment on that particular
radio. But I have owned all the radios in the IC-756 series since 1998, and
can confirm that each model was a sufficient improvement over its
predecessor to justify the upgrade.

The differences between the Pro2 and Pro3 are covered here:

The ADC in the IC-756Pro2 or Pro3 has 8 dB more dynamic range than that in
the IC-746Pro. In practice, this will make very little difference to overall
performance.
