Hi, John.

Try www.paceworldwide.com

Their stuff is not cheap, but they are the most
well-known suppliers of this sort of stuff. You
can probably find a source in VK land. They
make a small kit for manual circuit-board repair
that comes with a small supply of various sizes
of "eyelets" and simple tools for installation.

One other thing, I finally remembered that the
"rivets" I mentioned are termed "eyelets."

I'm also sending this back to the Icom and the
icom-classic lists for general information.

Mac,
Could you pass on to me any of the links that you
have for the suppliers of the tools to do this job
please.

I did not get much success in finding them.

Thanks.

ALL of the early Icom synthesized radios had
problems with through-hole connections on
the board. It is a real problem. I have two
IC-22Ss that the problem has come back after
attempts to repair them. See my comments
on the second paragraph following this one.

The best method is as follows. Every single
through-hole needs to be drilled out slightly
and have special hollow "rivets" installed in the
hole. Then, solder is flowed to both sides and
a good connection is made between the "rivet"
and the tracks on each side. These rivets
(and tools for non-commercial installation) are
made by the Pace Company and some others.

I had SOME success, but not permanent, by
taking cut off gold plated resistor and capacitor
leads and using them to bridge through the
board. You can form them into a "Z" (or half
swastika). Solder it to one side of the board
and then to the other. It's a lot of work,
and you will have a devil of a time figuring out
which ones to do. You need to do all of them
and will probably miss a minimum of 25% on the
first go around.

Good luck!
