[ICOM] Mobile Installation Help Thanks

Hi All: I want to sincerely thank the nice folks
who answered my request for assistance in the problem
I had with the Hustler Mobile Antenna, especially
Mike, KD9KC, in El Paso. All three of you who were
kind enough to send me help were correct. It was the
Ground that I should have put on the Mag Mt. I
attached a half inch braid to the mag mount base
and ran it to a spot on the body under the door of the
hatchback of the station wagon. I tested the antenna
and it measured 1:1 SWR and showed 50 Ohms impedance
on the MFJ 259. After useage, there was no more
heating of the antenna coil. I am using a Hustler
Antenna with the 54 inch foldover mast and I have a
quadruple magnet Valor mount which is to strong I
believe you could lift the car using it. I used
some nylon tie cord (500 lb test) and added
two guys at the spot where the mast bends. It works
great and I have used it at legal limit highway speeds
with no problem. Thanks again for all the
