I still have working Icom rigs that are over 30 years old.

Well Charlie, my Drake TR4-C works great, but does not do the WARC bands,
does not have the band scope the Pro II has, filtering is easier in the Pro
II and numerous other items.
I sold my Pro some time ago, but put several years on it ... however, I know
the new owner and after about 5+ years it is still going strong.
I guess it is all about what you want to do. If you are happy with the Swan
... fine.
But to state obsolescence in 3-5 years .. don't know about that. How many
Icoms are out there that are over 10 years old and still going strong??
