Ever see a fully solid-state 50 kW broadcast transmitter?
Individual amplifier blocks that can be hot-swapped when
they fail!!!

Not true. Solid state and miniaturization has had some advances in the last
50 years. Cooling would be noisy, but size can be reduced.
